It’s more in depth and quite more fun to read. There are many take aways and Graham does a great job demonstrating areas of Logic Pro X that are vague to figure out on your own in the App. What’s great about this book is it’s easy to find what you’re looking for, and when you find it, there’s real depth in explanation. Chapter 10, “Playing Virtual Vintage Instruments” is great.

I tweaked a lot of my settings and my tracks sound a lot better with just a few of the tips he’s written. Graham did a great job on the book, and the bonus material downloads on Logicstudiotraining. Looking forward to learning more from Graham!

Logic Pro X is a daunting product. It is so large and complex that it takes a lot of learning. This book helped a lot. It is not a reference manual and does not go into great depth. What it does do is give you an introduction to the software so that you can begin developing the skills you need to build a workflow. If you are new to Logic Pro and want help in getting started, you may find this book accessible and useful. It will not make you an expert but I suspect that takes a couple of years.

It’s the clearest, most accessible book of its kind that I’ve found. My only wish is that the illustrations were larger and in color Also the author has a subscriber-based website with videos that complement the book beautifully. For someone starting with Logic, I can’t imagine a more useful tool in print. Even if you’ve been at it for awhile as I have, Logic is so deep that it’s easy to overlook useful functions and form bad habits.

BTW this book is also available as an e-book, which is great for search on my iPad. Still I like pulling my paper copy out. It’s all hi-lited and marked up–I call it my studio bible.

So far so good except that at least one url link on page 35 is a – not found. How many others will have a similar response is not known at this time. May find the answer when I read through the many emails I have received from Graham English.

I will get through and learn this program, whatever it takes. This is what I was looking for; not too complicated and also has a chapter on orchestral instruments. So many of the books these days only concern themselves with electronic and rock instruments and I understand that because that is what’s popular these days, but for the rest of us we should be given some information on handling the rest of the orchestra and it’s relation to the software and how to modify them.

While this book has a copyright of , it is very useful to me since I had no knowledge of how to run Logic Pro. I will be purchasing the current version of Logic Pro rather than using GarageBand. One person found this helpful. There is always so much info online but with the help of “for dummies” books you can tackle any topic at your own pace.

Well written book that answers the questions that new and experienced users alike have. Logic Pro X is a terrific musical tool but can be intimidating because it has so many layers of tools that can help users do just about anything musically. This book goes along way explaining those tools. I find myself referencing the book whenever I get stuck trying new things when I record.

See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Logic pro x for dummies Is best compared to a cook book, i. In some respects that makes it easy to dip in and out of – clarifying certain aspects, but I found in later parts many sections were overly technical without explaining very much at all. The most irritating aspect of the book though was the abysmal quality of the paper it was printed on, rendering most of the essential screen shots unreadable and hard to relate to the accompanying text.

Why go to so much trouble to write a technical book and then print it on newspaper – It’s a bit like writing a great song and then listening to it on a cheap medium wave radio! A book for something as technical as an audio program such as Logic pro, is never going to be easy to write or follow, video tutorials are a far better option , and generally the author does it a good job, however I feel that simple tutorials showing the construction of a song from ground up to final mastering, would have been a better way to explain and cover the complex interfaces of Logic pro, rather than the ingredients without the method approach.

I found the book didn’t teach me anything I didn’t know already about the basics of Logic such as general recording and midi editing and failed to explain to me in a way I could comprehend the more medium to advanced features such as compression, EQ and effects. It is all a matter of what works for the individual though and the first sections may well suit a complete beginner rather than someone like me who knows the basics but is looking to get that little bit more from Logic but still explained in an easy to understand way.

Hugely disappointed with this book. The worthy written content is completely negated by the awful low resolution black and white screenshots on poor quality paper.

I find myself able to create music with relative ease that the other DAWs just are not capable of. The MIDI capabilities alone are second to none in Logic and the ability to compose music in all styles makes it the best of the best.

Another huge plus is the constant and free updates Apple provides… updates that are really upgrades in the quality and number of plug-ins and soft instruments built into the program. Composing music or just recording a band is easy with this software. Whether you are into acoustic, jazz, electronica or rock, this software package is the best there is and gets updated constantly by Apple. Apple takes this software very seriously and I commend them for their excellence. Version However, it does have on issue now with Flex Pitch and Flex Tim.

Total disaster when only trying to use Flex Pitch and not edit the time. When you turn off Flex and Follow, all of your time and pitch corrections disappear. I just want to use flex. Nothing can fix this. I have been looking in Apple Forums and trying to find a solution for about a week now. Despite an arduous installation process, the app is worth every bit the hardship.

It carries great features which are beneficial for beginners as well as professionals. It does a lot more than just cutting, trimming and joining audios. If you feel Logic Pro is a bit too much, then opt for Audacity. Considering its features, the app is also a very good substitute you might try.

It is free to download and provides you with a multitude of features. You can record or edit a sound from your computer. It is easy to handle and gives great results. It is another iOS option to choose from. GarageBand is a reliable DAW that is used widely around the globe.
